Default aerial in windscreen - is there an adaptor to fit aftermarket radio

Hi,

have just had a new screen fitted and the new one has an aerial in the screen, but the connecting plug doesn't fit the regular aftermarket radios.

Can I get an adapter for this? does anyone know where I might order one from?

thanks
nick

If I remember correctly (I've never really gotten involved with stereo this 'n that) the in glass antenna requires an am booster. That part is secured above the glove box from the trunk side, and the connections to the radio come from that.

Nick I would start at any aftermarket radio installer, if an adapter exists, they should have it.

Like stated above, the line in the windshield does not attach directly to the radio. It won't work that way. From the factory, there is a booster, it is located in the trunk, on the passenger's side wall, all the way towards the back of the car (basically right under the bottom of the corner of the windshield on the passenger's side).

It's a small black box, from memory, about 3 inches by 2 inches by 1 inch. The lead from the windshield wire attaches directly to it, then an output (along with a 12V trigger wire) goes to the radio.

The SC didn't come with that booster, so you're going to have to either buy one and install it, or else use the regular whip antenna that came with the car.

Antennas in the windshield didn't start until '84 or '85.

Ah, dammit. Looks like I'll have to get one of those then.
My car wasn't originally fitted with an aerial in the screen and I hate the one in the front wing. (am going to have that removed, plated and painted)

anyone know a part description, or even better a part number, for the booster?
heres a few pics of the connection on the new screen:

Nick, the part number you need is 928.645.173.02

It should cost about US$140.
