How many members 911's running

I've had mine, 88 targa, only a year and a half and had to do NOTHING to it....of course I may have jinxed myself. I had a 88 928 and a idiot light came on every time I drove it (or seems like it did anyways). Not sure if it was the car or the idiot that bought a 928s4 and didn't expect it.

My '85 has 160K on it and it is running like a champ. I am even thinking about driving it to the parade this summer if the wife can pack small.

Daviboy,
Since its purchase in 2002 this 1986 911 Carrera 3.2 has been the definition of the 'always available daily driver' excepting about 60 days total down time for the somewhat 'leisurely' repairs I make in my own garage. It has never left me stranded or in need of a tow!
For a 22 year-old bone-stock car (excepting the little Momo and the drilled Zimmerman rotors) I think a 2/73rds downtime figure for the last 6+ years is DAMN GOOD! Especially since the engine at 220,000+ miles has NEVER been rebuilt (I'm blessed with all records except for the first owner, who only had it for the first few months of its life).
I am, however, using 1 qt. of oil about every 650 miles so the $10K+ ride may be due in another couple of years. Plugs (my litmus test) are OK but I’m sure it’s only a matter of time. I hit 6000 rpm several times a day (it’s GOOD for it!), mainly in 3rd but sometimes 4th too if road’s open enough. I just LOVE that sound of 4000 rpm and above through 3rd and 4th. I also love it through 5th but you usually need a badge of some sort to get out of that one… ;-)
Do the cars ask for money? Like a teenager! One day I'm gonna take all my receipts and see what my 6+ years has cost me $ wise (a worthy and doable exercise at that). I DO know, however, that whatever the results it could in NO way exceed the Pure Joy my wife and I have derived from this ownership!

Mine is running fine. I have spent some time doing SSI's/Dansk system, new Rennaire AC system...that took me ALOT longer then it should have... but I would call those optional upgrades.. Only thing that really left me sitting was a bad ignition switch and a worn out clutch... Id say thats normal wear items so not too bad. LOVE the car.

911 and 928 are fine.
911 was out of commission most of summer but that was due to a fender bender (and it was just the right fender) that was not my fault. Otherwise, she runs great. Also not a daily driver. Only time she is down is when I am doing preventative maintenance or stupid things like the other day when I broke the windshield washer nipple while trying to remove a line. So now I am waiting for a new pump. But at least the new line is the right length and goes around the batery rather than being stretched over the top of battery - not sure why someone would do that. I also replaced the AC fan up front and a LOT of rubber all over the place - but it is not necessary - just one of those o/c things. 1981 928 has been great but for a recent short that blows the fuse for the interior lights right away. Must be a ground. Otherwise, all is good - knock on wood.
