A good pole in OT would be...Do you own a Porsche?

3. I used to.
4. I am too young to drive.
Or...When was the lat time you posted in the technical Porsche sections?
1. Today
2. Within a week.
3. Last year.
4. Never.
5. This site is about Porsches?

I think most of the regulars have good running cars , cause if they don't they don't have an excuse with the amount of tallent here ! I think for the most part non members come here to ask how to fix their car and are gone. I don't mind at all . I would rather have non regulars ask technical questions , than people talking OT stuff all the time on this forum.
But having said all that there are guys like me who just aren't satisfied until they break something ... :-)

Well, mine's driven as often as possible. Are there issues? Sure. Not critical ones though.
My tach's still flukey, so I have a new voltage regulator on the shelf & will probably drop that in this weekend, maybe one night this week if I get ambitious. I need to get under there & grease the Elephant Poly-bronzes. The headliner replacement keeps getting pushed back too. Been meaning to Dr Colorchip the front a little.
On the important stuff, absolutely, the preventative & reactive maintenance is first, always. I don't like being without the ability to drive her very long.

Mine's doing great - it's never been a daily driver since I bought it, but for the last five years it's been just about perfect (had to replace one injector)... I figure that if I keep putting about 2K miles/year on the car, in about 20-years it'll be a low mileage car (about 203K now)!

Nice perspective Pete!
I bought mine 11/04 w/ 50k miles on her. Not quite at 4 years now, and she's clocking 92k in the next week or so. Honestly, mechanically, she's been the most reliable car I've ever owned. A little expensive with the wanna-do's, but the car hasn't really left me stranded but... 2.5 times... 1 was the alternator going, 1 was the clutch cable slipped out of the trans-side bracket, and the 1/2 one was the clutch failing (got her home, then needed to tow after to the shop for the trans rebuild/clutch swap, etc.). She did a nice RI - OH - RI 1600 mile weekend trip to the Taj Ma Garage this summer too, flawlessly.
The PO is probably having fits on how I'm putting 10-12k miles / year on her through mostly 3-season driving.

Running good and due for valve adjustment (wondering if I should do it myself...)

I bought an '84 3.2 2.5 years ago. I drive it anytime it's not raining or when there is no salt on the roads.
I've spent as much as I paid for it on restoration work. New clutch, full suspension rebuild, restored the A/C completely, had paint work done, the list goes on and on. I'm nowhere near done fixing the stuff that bothers me, but the car is so rock solid mechanically with 102k on the clock, I'll take it anywhere at anytime.
For every post about someone's car breaking, there are probably 10 of us owners that have very little trouble with our cars for years and years.
