Default Buying a 911 in a few years

I will be buying a 911 in a few years. And I want to do my homework before I buy one, as I do not want to make the wrong choice and waste money im saving on a bad car. Im targeting the 911 SC yrs 77-83 as what I will be able to afford. Any suggested books or places to visit to gather some good info ?? I just bought a book on Amazon called The Used 911 story. Is it any good ?

Find out if there any regional meets in the area and go to them. Get to know the local 911 owners and talk to them, they know doubt will love to talk your ear off about their car.

WizPorsche944:

Welcome! SC was '78 thru '83. The main thing is to get a per-purchase inspection (PPI) on any car you are considering buying. The book you have ordered is a great resource- as is this and the pelican forum.

Good luck!

Paul.

ah yeah .. I would think so ... the author hangs out here .. hahahaha. Actually it is a GREAT book. I actually bought it after I bought my car and STILL learned tonnes.

I have a 78 sc and you are right . it is a terrific car. Really pay atention to the pre purchase inspection of the book. You can educate yourself and discount many cars with a little knowledge.

Paul Frere's (may he Rest At the Wheel of a 911) "Porsche 911 Story" is a must-read for serious 911 owner-enthusiasts. Happy Hunting (& research - I'd drive some fine survivor & restored-as-new examples of the model you select, if at all possible)!
