Default Good Indie Mechanics in Bay Area, CA?

Preferrably near San Jose. Hate to limp a mishappen 911 all the way to San Francisco.

Prefer independent dealers since Porsche dealers will charge bucko bucks I'm assuming...

In addition to Heyer Performance, see RMG in Sunnyvale.

CT Automotive in Campbell are straight up folks that do great work: 408-377-3885. In Sunnyvale there is RMG: 408-738-2060. I've used both and was very pleased with the work and pricing.

thanks for these leads gents. I'm going to need a good mechanic since i know nothing about them. i can do moderate weekend mechanic repair but need help after that. this will help a bunch.

I was getting quotes for engine rebuilds if the worst case scenario happens soon after buying mine. $10-12 for the 3.2L, $12-15 for the 3.6L. OUCH! it was one of the campbell guys but cant remember who that was.

Getting quotes for top-end rebuils before you've even bought a car is a tad hypochondriac don't you think?

I think it's good to know what you're getting into, especially with these cars. I intend to keep it a long time and eventually, it will need a rebuild or more.

Mark at Sportech is great with 911's and 944. Very reasonably priced too.

I visited several independent shops and even one dealership before deciding on Heyer Performance. Tony honestly treated my car and my pocketbook as if they were his own. His passion and knowledge of all things Porsche is amazing. He was also very patient with my very meticulous punch list.

Did you also happen to visit Don Wise of Autowerks in Campbell? What other shops did you check out and what were your impressions?
