Well, I did it. She's a '86, 113k miles, un-molested all original car. I bought it on the bay, and went against all the advice you guys gave me. I bought it with no ppi, I flew to LA one way, and after less than an hour of inspection I paid the ballance and drove it straight home, 750 miles, smiling all the way. It has a few issues, the cruise won't cancel when I brake, the idle surges sometimes, the targa side seals need to be replaced and it doesn't like to be lugged at all. If I try to accelerate below 2k rpms in second, it will buck a little. I think i's related ato the surging idle. We're doing a smoke test Monday to check for vacuum leaks prior to an idle adjustment. Later, Bob

Very cool
Cograts, sounds like you have a few small issues to sort but doesn't sound too bad. Bought mine without a PPi too, HAs been a great car .. well except for the stuff I blew up that is.

Congratulations Bob - nice Targa!
You must, however, provide a better pic. Better yet, make it several.

Not quite "all original", as the tail isn't the right type for an 86 Carrera, and of course the wheels are polished. What the hell, nice car!

Good job Bob, she will be much happier if you keep her above 3,000. Check to make sure your cruise control cable isn't sticking on the bracket. If the clip is broken at the end of the tube it can hang up and mess with you when trying to turn off cruise and may even be the sourse of the surging idle. They are great cars if you are handy with wrenches. Have fun.
