I have a friend who just bought a 1988 3.2 with 115000 miles (car was unused - parked - for 2 years before he bought it)
Now he is having some white smoke and sometimes the engine runs in 5 cylinders (fouled plug)
One mechanic told him the engine needs new rings and another told him to leave it as it is and keep driving...
Do you 3.2 experts have some advice for my friend?
Thanks in advance

Henry,
An engine that sits for two years (+ ?) is NOT a happy camper. It's entirely possible that a ring(s) could have rusted to a cylinder and broke on it's revival. Since the new owner has obviously had the engine operating and it has not yet dumped out tons of blue smoke with oil dripping out the exhaust, he/she might postpone the standard (and highly recommended!) compression/leakdown test for a bit by doing the following.
Have your friend fit new and correctly gapped plugs all around and see how they do. Also know that 115,000 miles is mere child's play for most '84-'89 3.2L engines and that they are known to 'white smoke' a bit at start-up (and ONLY at start up) due to age and possible valve-seal leaks which some 3.2s may be prone to.
Have him/her closely monitor the oil usage and pull the plugs after a few days of use (100 miles?). If they show signs of fouling then to a compression/leak-down test yea shall go in order to find the offending cylinder and vanquish it with much anger.
