Post Refurbish stock seats vs. Recaro SRD

I'd like the opinion of my fellow Rennlisters on the issue of seats-I have an 82SC with the saddle leather interior. The front seats are in bad shape and need to be re-covered and I'm thinking about a matching German vinyl from Autos International. However, more and more I'm thinking about tan cloth Recaro SRDs which I can get in my area for about $450 each.

Obviously the stock seats will keep the car more original, but the Recaros are more comfortable.

Suggestions?

While driving you will never say, "wow, these seats are original", but you might say, "wow, these seats are comfortable".

With the recaros you will gain about an inch
of headroom and they are much better for driving
on the track. I put a pair of SRDs in my 85 and
like it much better.

get the recaros and store the originals if you think it may be an issue. I have heard its about $100.00 a seat to redo in leather. So $900.00 or 2 or 3 hundred is something to think about too. How's the car Buddy?

Kicked around the same thing for my 81'. Like the stock look but, also like the racer-x thing. When you put in the Recaro's in, it makes you feel like you should rip out all the rest of the interior and race. Well, I don't know. Pass me another beer.

Thanks for your opinions. To do German vinyl it is about $225/seat, almost $400 for leather. I think I'll store the originals and go for the Recaros.

Mikey, how's the Targa?
