Default 1988 Rear Spoiler Removal

Does the rear spoiler bolt on? What is left underneath the spoiler after it is removed?

What's left? A rear deck lid with some holes in it. If you want to go with out spoiler best off getting a used deck lid that doesn't have holes in it. You can easily pick one up and you can easily sell your old one with your whale tail.

+1. Matt is right. The rubber piece bolts to the "apron" of the spoiler, and the apron bolts to the lid around the fresh air inlet. Removal will leave holes. You can fill and paint the holes, or do what I did, get a second decklid at the dismantlers, paint it as needed, and bolt it on.

One thing: if you have functioning A/C, you're best not to swap out the decklid without checking with a good mechanic. The condensor and fittings are a hassle, and the system is pressurized. You could unbolt the condensor from the underside of the old lid and bolt it to the new decklid, but be very careful. Any tweeking of the condensor lines or busting of the condensor loops could be trouble.
