17" Wheels
Looking at upgrading brakes and wheels at same time for track. What is the widest 17" wheel that I can get for a 930? Can I get 17x9 or 17x10 for the rears and what would the offset be? Also, is 17x8 the best I can do upfront and offset?

I run 18x11 in the rear of my car, which has turbo flares.

This is what I am looking at; 17x9.5 with 275/40, 17x11 with 315/35's. I am pretty sure that the offsets are 32. Do you feel that this pose any problems on the front/ rear?

Hey there.
Sorry I can't answer about the offset number itself...
I'm positive that tire & rim size will fit the rear easily, though I'd be careful with the front.
On my car, I cannot fit that 275 w/a 9" upfront...but I am very low, too.

I like the idea about the 275/40 up front, could go with 9" and 255/40. What is the widest you have run up front being lowered?

The back is easy. The front is hard -- and it's actually the front that limits the back, since you really don't want too big a difference between front and rear if you want the car to handle. I run 11's in the back with a 1-inch spacer. I could fit more than a 315 tire back there and a 12-inch wheel, but it's stupid to pair a 335 with a 275 front.
275 is as wide as I've been able to fit in front -- my front flares are narrower than a Turbo's. And the rest of my front suspension is also different than a Turbo's. I think a lot of Turbo guys are only able to fit 245 or 255 up front, which means it doesn't make sense to go much wider than 275 in the back (unless your passion is limited to straight-line racing).
For me, 275/315 gives a decent front/rear balance. And it's a lot of rubber on a lightweight car.

Like Jack, I've gone 275/315's, on 9's and 12's (18"), on an 87' 930.
I found 245's too skinny up front; the wider front tires had a larger contact patch and improved braking (less lock up), as well as a sharper turn in.
For a 930, mine bolt up with no factory or after market spacers (from John at CCW):
9" 31mm offset, 6-1/4" backspacing
12" zero inches of offset, 6-1/2" backspace
Hey Jack - How come it's stupid to pair 335's and 275's? I have a couple used 335's I got from a friend that I plan to try and fit.
Cheers -
