Default 84 air always hot thru interior vents

Hi,

although I have the heat adjustment dial between the seats turned to lowest (coldest), and fan off, there is still (very) hot air blowing into the cabin thru the vents. This fault has only just occurred. I can bear it now, but when summer comes, I'll be toast.

I would be very grateful for any suggestions, comments.

Cheers

pete

Heater flapper boxes under your car are partially jambed would be my guess.

I've got an '84 Carrera and I've just written it off to an old car. Does this mean these puppies don't let hot air in 100% of the time???

Yes, you can shut the hot air off completely. Mine are in bad shape. I can close them by crawling under the car but if I use the heat levers they jamb open again.

As an 84 model there is the distinct possibility that some of the foam-based seals in that ductwork are degraded,--significantly. Unless you go in and are prepared to repair or replace said ducts, things may not change. It can also be a control cable adjustment issue.

Man down under, I had the same problem on the '84. Turned out that when the guy (not my guy....oops, I mean not my mechanic) replaced the clutch he somehow jammed (two m's ?) the works so hot air was coming in, it was awful. So my mechanic fixed it with little effort and charged me maximum effort.

Neat color.....what is that?
