Cabriolet assembly broke :(
The "assembly" (i.e. folding mechanical support structure that holds the convertible top) on my 1987 911 Cabriolet just broke. One of the support "struts" completely broke in half. The entire top assembly looks like it needs to be completely replaced. WHERE would I buy a replacement? I know you can buy a replacement top (which is pretty much just the material that makes up the roof), but what about the actual support that folds back and forth and creates the "frame" of the cabriolet top?
If there is an option to buy a non-electric version, I wouldn't be totally against having just a manual top.
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!
Thank you.

Hi John, I surf the porsche parts dismantlers quite often and I think that Silver Star Recycling has a 1989 or 1990 C-2 that may be parted out and should have the same roof as your car, their address is http://www.silverstarrecycling.com/. Another place that is likely to have it is Ian's Euro Parts, contact Ian at ian@ianseuroparts.com. Also a good source is PAP, their website is http://www.pap-parts.com. One other palce to try is Parts Heaven http://www.partsheaven.com/.
Good Luck

DEAR SIR,
I TOO OWN AN 87 CABRIOLET, BUT WITH THE MANUAL TOP. I FOUND TO MY DISMAY THAT THE ALLEN HEAD BOLTS WERE NOT TIGHT AND WERE BADLY IN NEED OF LUBE. AFTER GENTLY LOOSENING
THEM I SPRAYED THEM WITH GM AERISOL GREASE,
AND RETIGHTENED THEM. MINE APPEARS TO HAVE
COMPLETLY REPLACEABLE INDIVIDUAL COMPONENTS
SO GET A ALLEN HEAD WRENCH AND SEE IF YOU CAN TAKE IT APART/
