The kids has to have a friend with a VW or Honda that he can learn on. Not worth it! He may not kill your clutch, but he will take life off of it for sure.

Good points on all sides.

I've made a point of sharing my car, letting all my friends drive it who come out for a spin with me. After my run on Saturday, I'm re thinking the wisdom of my generosity after smelling my clutch burning on Saturday.

It didn't bug me as much, when the car was new, and I didn't know how to drive it, but the more I know about it, and the more I get anxious about the eventual costs...the more I want them to be more eventual rather than less eventual.
