Default Stabilizer bar bushing question.

I had a broken stabilizer bar mount (passenger side). I had a new OEM mount installed last week. I also installed new brackets, bushings and bolts.

But upon observation today, I see that the bushings have an end gap (see photos). The photo is at the passenger side (driver's side similar).

Is this acceptable? Does the end gap mean that I have a larger than stock bar (and need new larger bushings & brackets)?

I'll save the WEVO talk for another time......

When I did mine I first purchased the rubber from Performance Products and got the wrong size. I think it was for a 19mm bar and my '88 has a 21mm bar. They seem to have left it out of the catalog. I went back and got the 21mm. It looks like you have the same problem. You have 915 era rubber on a G50 era car, no?

EDIT: found the link...

Tony, hold on! something is seriously wrong with that picture. Where is the new weld? I see the a new bracket, but nothing that looks like a new mount. there should be a welt that is new or new and covered up by new undercoating. I see two different grey edges that make me think this outer side of the mount didn't get welded. Help me out here.

Default I measured the existing bar diameter with a micrometer.

I got 21.46 mm. The dealer told me that the spec. for 88 was 21 mm.

The new weld is on the inside. It was difficult to weld due to the proximity of an A/C line and another encapsulated line that goes into the body cavity. But, the welder did a good job of welding without collateral damage.

The extra .46 is the paint.

I had to use sheet metal to shield the sparks from the A/C lines and even after doing that the undercoat was on fire. great project.
