Default spider cracks in sun roof

I noticed "spider cracks" on my sunroof. the rest of the car's paint is in great shape.

What causes spider cracks, and not that i'm complaining, why are they contained only on the sunroof? If i don't sand and re-spray, will the spider cracking spread and cause more damage?

Thanks,

Hi Rosco,
I'm no painter but I'll tell you what I think.
Spider cracks come from either the base material flexing i.e. fiberglass or from excessive layers of paint on a hard surface. Or maybe the sunroof being sprayed at one time with acrylic and then touched up later on using enamel paint. They don't go well together.
It takes time for them to appear so if they've been there all along I don't think that they will spread.
If they have just appeared they might not be done yet.

Well, that's my very limited paint knowlege.
I hope this helps.

Thanks Frank.
I'm gonna look into this further and bring her down to my guy tomorrow. Last week he has the sunroof out of a '73 RS for a re-spray. I'll ask what he thinks and let ya know.
