Post Best way to clean outside of Transmission??

Will be taking an old transmission to work tomorrow.First it needs to have the outside collection of grime removed.
I wonderd if I can use a degreaser let it sit for a while then hit it with a power washer at the car wash?
Any help out there?
Thanks!
Gary

This it the stuff:

Buy a cheap scrub brush, spray this on, run the brush over it to break it up and hose it off. You don't even need high pressure.

Use the purple stuff above...it RULES!

To get the first layer of "crap" off, I use engine degreaser - "Gunk" I believe is the brand, white pressurized can with orange lid.

...then sneak into a bay at your local $1.25 high-pressure washing station and get the rest of the stuff off.
