Default HALF WAY with my A/C Project...thank you to all who have suffered before me...

...God bless you for all your wisdom and posting so that those who are after
would have an easier job! It all started with the A/C loosing its Freon substitute...well I though get new hoses, then well why not a new evaporator....oh what the heck get a new kit and convert to the 134 stuff.
I have taken everything off....now I am waiting for my Rennaire kit to arrive!
Cleaned all the old condensors with acetone and used the air hose to flush it out..get rid of the old oil....boy I am ready with this 100+ temps.
Thanks again to all who have posted...you have saved me from potential pitfulls\...it really is not hard job, just tedious.

Default Well, I AM DONE! A/C cools very nicely....

I am thinking of getting two side vents made by Kuehl (sold by Griffith)...but at $160 + drilling into the knee pads, I'll have to think about it.

So have you bought the entire rennaire kit by now? I didn't see the compressor on your list.

At first I was going to piece meal the system...then I just decided to get the entire kit since the system is 25 years old. It really cools very very well.
I don't drive stop/go traffic...so results may vary.

No, on the desert duty...my front condensor was new so I didn't replace it. I assume the desert duty implies the front condensor. That said, my understanding is that it makes a difference if you order it.

Watch out for clearance issues with the DD front condenser. It does hang down lower than the stock condenser. Here's what happened to mine on a rough stretch of road under const -rough pavement transition. Pancaked!
