He was also asking $165K for the red one - which looked a bit of a mess

I would never pay 160USD for a 30 year old car, unless it could time travel lol. I dont care how rare they are, I would rather spend 90K on a 2009 911 Carrera S and use the other 75K to travel the world.

true personally looking at new 7 GT3 but 6GT3 great value at around 70 - 80 K but plenty of people with cash to spare paying over the odds for these cars !

Therein lies the difference in the car collector stratosphere. There are two types that will buy a car like this; (1) those that have lusted over a specific car for the last 30 years (it doesn't matter if it's a Ferrari, a Cobra, a Porsche, etc.) and can afford it, and (2) those that can afford it, and can also buy all the toys and take all the trips that they want.

I would love to know how to slow down the RS slide show, because I can see a few things that I don't like. The car, in my opinion, is certainly not a $200K example, not even close...

After looking at the 2 73's and the 74; I am truly amazed at the asking prices of these cars that haven't been restored to original condition. If (and that's a BIG if) I were going to spend that kind of money for a RS , 74 Carrera or even an early S, I would expect originality, and not someone’s interpretation of what original was or is. At these prices the only interpretation that matters is Porsche’s. I want matching numbers, original engine and MFI, headlight rings that were correct and even a radio of the correct era . I want an interior that is or has been restored to the original state and that includes correct seats front , door panels and carpeting and unless it came from the factory with a roll bar, I don't want it. These are collector car prices and the cars are not representative of their true original state……just my 2 cents

His prices for the run of the mill SC, and 993's look off the charts IMO

Once again, the slide show is too fast. I must say, the white SC doesn't look too bad, it still has it's catalytic converter and the smog pump is actually hooked up. Those are solid indicators that the car has had above average service (of course, there's no guarantee of that). Yes, another car with a Carrera tail complete with Carrera badge, but it's got a chin spoiler. Why's the car for sale? Who knows, maybe they just found a couple of broken head studs at the last service... Also, the pictures look like the dash is OK, but you can't really tell without a good picture of the A/C vent. The ride height looks good, as does the overall stance of the car.

Remember the old NASCAR deal where the cars raced on sunday and sold on monday. Nobody really went out and purchased the million dollar STP Super Bird , but they did buy the Charger, Barracuda, or Dart. The same thing is at work with the $200,000 used car at a dealership. It makes the purchase of an $80,000 new car sound resonable. It even makes the $50,000 car sound like a really good deal. Heck, that one is a bargain. Walk into Galpin Ford and they will drive you over to G.A.S. to see all the GT500, a dozen old Shelby Cobra's, an Elvis Caddy, all with pricetags that make the Ford Taurus they want to sell you look like the screamin' deal of the century. Rant off.

Hi Pete,

If you click the 'stop' button underneath the slideshow you can then click on the individual photos to view them one at a time although the photos are really not very good.

I would be intersted in your detailed comments on this car as a good friend is interested in it. Thanks.

The picture quality is terrible. And then sometimes the picture flashed across before I could click the stop button.

I guess the white car is a #3? It has the Euro dash gauges.

I just read about the Carrera RS Touring (#9113601115) that sold for $425,000. It was a special car.
