Post Early electric windows

On an early windows motor and regulator, bosch silver motor with a small rubber linkage, 3 wire type. There does not appear to be any form of stop, either bottom or top. I have not fitted them into the door but if i use a 12v source they just go past the end of the gear. I hope this is not too much of a stupid question.
cheers

Hi Nick,

Actually - it's not a silly question at all...! In fact - I'm not sure, but I believe that the motor will bottom out (lower the window) when the window riser frame comes to rest against the lower riser section. Conversely, at full UP - the window can't rise above the window frame (if you look at the door - you will notice the window frame in either chrome or anodize black, which holds the glass channel)...

Hello

OK short:

The old style Bosch system has a littel rubberdrive ( barrel ) between motor and transmission, that is to protect the motor from overload and to protect fingers from geting cut off.

Now the motor runs the window up and down untill it gets blocked and thats it.

the same system was also used in the sunroof.

The upper stops on the window are the windowframes on Coupes or the adjustable stop on the Targas.

The lower stop is just a rubberwedge glued into the doorbotoom onto the spot where the arm will run against the doorshell.

Those parts are also used on hand crank systems.

Now later versions are a bit different.

Grüsse
