Default 1989 (3.2) cabrio top

I have 1989 3.2 cab. "Silver Anniversary". Can anyone reccomend a good place (good value for the $) to purchase a new top? I plan to buy and have a local shop install. Thanks.

Where are you located? Places to get a new top would be Robbins Auto tops or GAHH. I use them exclusively. A shop will have to get the Robbins top for you and install. GAHH may sell to you but I'm not sure.

GAHH installed a top on my (restored - don't ask me why) 81 380SL. Top was excellent. There was some issue with the rubber they used but it all worked out. FYI - they don't always use OEM rubber. But they were smart enough to recommend replacing rubber at the same time as when the top was being replaced. That was a great suggestion even though it hurt me in the wallet.

I had a guy in Attleboro, MA re-sew my rear window zipper, which from what I understand he removed the top to sew on the bench. Cost was $400, FWIW.

When I asked him about installing the new headliner, he told me the top'd have to come off, and he'd recommend waiting until I was ready to install a new one. He could provide, or I could, my choice. I am planning on a GAHH top, with him installing, and all new seals at the same time.

BTW - attending the Fun Run from Sandwich to P-Town 5/17/08? More info in the Regional Section.

I purchased my top from Cabrio World, http://www.cabrioworld.com/
Quality was OK.
I did the install myself, 40 hours DIY first timer (never again).
For the headliner we custom made something special, if you want more info
on that subject send PM.

If you let the installer choose their source for the top then you will have fewer issues
if there are quality or fit problems.

I have been told by a local shop that does tons of BMW, Benz, and Porsche that GAHH is the best And I am having one installed on my Benz money pit in a couple of weeks.
