The shop in Santa Barbara is called Schneider Autohaus and they have a website, just google search for it. Also if you want me to take a look at the car before you take it in for a PPI let me know .

Yes, Schneider's would be the best place in SB to go.

Try Gary Topel at Factory Werks in Huntington Beach, OC. If he's too busy, he'll tell you who else to see. There's alsso Hergeshiemer(sp?) in Lake Forest, OC? And just for kicks, Benton Performance(?) in La Habra. Although primarily a 912 guy, John Benton is very good at all things Porsche.

In OC, Hergeheimers in Lake Forest (Irvine area). Mark and Laura are great peeps and will definitely treat you right ...and of course they really know their stuff! You can't go wrong with them.

The guys at Hergesheimer kinda of gave me the shaft last year when I bought a 951.

They did the PPI just fine. I then got an agreement for them to do some work on the car before I flew out from Denver to drive it home.

Well, a week goes by and the service manager called me back to say they could not do the work(new brakes, tires mounted). WTF! I had to scramble to find another shop who could get the car and get the work done in three days. Bother the owner again, to drive the car to another shop.

This type of service to me is inexcusable. I know doing $1,000 of work on a 951 is small potatoes to them but the lieing about getting it done than backing out is assanine.

Aase Motors in Fullerton...714-992-2283. Jeff at Aase is extremely popular with the POC racers throughout SoCal. It's also a fun shop to go hang out for lunch and to visit on Fridays before a POC event. Nobody knows air-clooled cars better than he does.

I had a bad expereince with Hergesheimer. I went there to have some smog compliance work done on my 993TT. He told me I needed valve guides ASAP. I took it to Andial for a second opinion and they said they were perfect. Three years and 20,000 miles later, the valve guides are still perfect.

I'd trust Jeff at Aase with my daughter.

nkgosselin,

This note was brought to my attention by a customer who wanted me to be aware of this problem. I'm sorry you had a bad experience with our shop and I regret to say that I do not remember this incident. As the owner here it does bother me that I would have treated you that way so I did pull up all my files for any 951 to try and jog my memory but I could not find any of these cars that we have ever performed a PPI on. (We performed one on a 944 in 2005 with severe oil leaks?)
I do apologize if I treated you in that manner, that is not my way of doing business. I do wish I could find paperwork for this incident so I could better understand how and why this may have happened.

Laura, Owner Hergesheimer MotorSports
