Default How about some tire recommendations?

I need new rear tires. I currently have Pirelli P Zero Neros. I have been very happy, but the existing size is no longer available. I iwll replace the fronts with a few months.

I narrowed the selection to 2 tires: Kuhmo Ecsta SPT or BF Goodrich G Force. Both are Z rated and fit my budget.

I primarily use these for aggressive street driving and occassional canyon driving. No autocrossing or racing planned in the near future. Looking for good traction, acceptable wear and noise.

Does anyone have any experience with either of these? I saw some online reviews with high noise levels on the G Force.

I will never own another G-Force tire.

After multiple cars, multiple sizes, multiple corners, similar results (blowout, cord sticking out of tire at this spot, bulges, visible "lines" in the same spot), I'll stay with non-BFG tires personally, thanks.

I just picked up Sumitomo HTR Z's for the SHO, and LOVE them. As grippy as the Falken Azenis Sports I replaced them for, 160 treadwear, handle great, QUIET tires too. CHEAP at Tire Rack too - $63 / tire at 245/45-17. I run Kumho MX on the 911, similar setup.

I put Fuzion ZRi's on my 911. I went with them because I had just bought the car, I needed new tires, I was too cheap to do an alignment, yet, and these tires were a cheap Z-rated performance tire. (They're a budget performance brand owned by Bridgestone). If my alignment was off, and the tires were going to scrub off in 2,000 miles, I didn't want to spend any more on the tires. In the end, my alignment looks good after 10,000 miles on them, and I am pleasantly surprised by the tires. I've done a number of aggressive back country tours and have been very happy. I just might buy them again.

Tone, look at Toyo's Proxes4. They are Vor W rated depending on series. That is 165MPH I believe.....I love 'em and not just 'cause they buy from a co-worker. The wearhouse is here in Rancho Cucamonga. big building, no polution, perfect for this town.

after my valve adjustment I went out for a run, looked down and was over 130, put the hammer down for 10 seconds and was past 150. had to look several times and almost crapped! The chip has a higher rev-limit is the only thing I can think of.

Hey, your daughter's ENZO is showing again?

I can second the Fuzions - had them on a VW Passat - lots of fun. I run the Potenza RE 750's on my 911 and they are on special closeout for $95/ tire at tire rack. I had just installed the Kumho SPT's on my VW but then I traded it in.... not enought miles to form an opinion - but the price was right.
