cut and paste from my order confirmation from Pelican. I placed this order while sitting in the parking lot of Walter's Porsche. The same order there would have been exactly $999.00 I have the quote.

How come nobody told me Pelican is not a walk in location. I called them and asked if I could will call and they said yes. Well, if you have alrady placed an order at least 24 hours in advance and it is in stock you can.....otherwise the product is in San Francisco. I did make friends with Tom at ex:305

The socket... Snap-on 14mm. I honestly can't remember if this was bought as-is from them, or if we made it at the shop using a regular deep socket.

Cool Pete, I have a local specialty tool crib just down the street from my office. If I buy the tool I'll bet he will cut the slot for me. I've been buying cool tools fron him for lots of years and that is where I found the tools(sockets) for my wheel bearings. so it's a 14mm deep. I'm going for a drive.

Update: got the tool will mill it myself at a customer's tomarrow. Used microfiber towels, brass scratch brush, and laquer thinner to cut right thru the black tar in the heads and up inside the intake manifold as far as I could reach. I had rows of visible dirt inside the upper portion of the manifold halves. This is either normal after 20 years or it isn't. It looked like the rubber boot that hold the two halves togeather was leaking too. time for a change.

Pete, did I just find a typo in your book? I was out cold but couldn't sleep. I've been up reading and posting and it dawned on me about the part numbers we talked about today. I grabbed your book and BAM there it is. You have 930 110 411 99 in the book. I can't believe I was the first to call you out on this. I don't know what to say other than sorry...and I'll shut up about it if you sign my copy if we ever cross paths. *Now I have to question everything you say. (*JOKE)

Ah, crap! Do you realize that I can't even find my notes, or what went to the publisher, regarding that number. When you look at it the number doesn't even sound right! Sheeeeeesh...

I stand corrected!

When you change those fuel lines, always hold the fixed part with a wrench before you try to break the old one loose, or tighten the new one. Don't get real muscular with them, but get them tight.

got my toys to play with and I'm goin in. I made my own slotted 14mm deep socket for $3.22 and 20 minutes on a mill. I can't believe how flexible the new fuel line is. Now I get why we change it out......OK I'm goin' in.

Now really I'm way too tired to be up posting, but I gotta finish my day off. I spent the last 12 hours with my engine. I took just about everything off the top I could. I'm not a good student and wasn't paying attention when all the instructions were given out. Next time I'll do better. She did fire after all that but stull has a leak on #5 'cause she was running realy ruff and a shot of brake cleaner fixed it right up.....for a second. What's next....sleep.

Welcome to Sunday morning Pete. Yesterday was so much fun. I was so distracted and turned on by the chalenge of it all that the stomach ache is gone, the insomnia, the mood swings, the anger, all the rage and disappointment, and all stuff that was eating at me. If I can do this, with all that going on, I can do most anything. We were told that the 911 was very theraputic and I have lived to tell the tail. The 911 is VERY theraputic.

Pete, how are you? It's 1:22 in the afternoon and I'm going home. I'm gonna pick up the wife, the 911, and drive my date (and my wife) up the Lake Arrowhead as promissed. I convinced my wife's helper to come in at noon or so once a week all summer so I could kidnap my wife. The helper will stay till 11:00 so we are covered till the last kid goes home. Goodnight everyone.
