The smell of burnt oil is finally gone for me after I spilled 1/2 quart of oil al over the side of the engine during the last oil change back in November.

I had the funnel filled and propped against the decklid shock and forgot about it when I got distracted by my youngster. I knew something was wrong when I saw green oil (Brad Penn) spreading on the ground underneath the right side of the Targa...

After one of my valve adjustment on the Thing I took the car for a test drive and saw lots of smoke coming out of the back. Pulled back in the driveway to see two valve covers sitting on the ground

Thanks guys for sharing these stories...at least now I know I am not alone. A couple of old sayings emerge here. " Good Judgment comes from experience...experience comes from bad judgment." and "Experience is something you don't get until after you need it"......how true. None come immediately to mind about stupidity though!

Cheers.
Dave.
