Bosch generic 02 sensor application
Does anyone know if Bosch makes a generic 3 wire 02 sensor for the 84 911? My parts guy couldn't find a part # for the Bosch 3 wire unit. Only the complete unit was listed for the 84. The generic Bosch units come without the connectors installed, and sold at a discount, also a plus for SSI convesions since the location of the SSI port is farther than the stock position. You can make the wire any length you want.
Thanks in advance,

A three wire sensor such as made for a Volvo or SAAB works good as it has wire leads that are like 2 1/2 to 3 feet long. Since you have SSIs, you can desolder the existing connectors from your old O2 sensor, cut the wires of your new sensor to length, cut the sheath into two pieces to length, slip the rubber doughnut onto the wires, and solder the old connectors to the new wires. The black O2 connector is a little tricky to take apart. Inside the rubber boot, is the black plastic retainer which screws down onto another plastic piece, holding the metal connector in. Take a needle nose plier, go inside the rubber boot, and unscrew counterclockwise the plastic, then you can slip the metal connector out and desolder it. When you are done, you will have a new O2 sensor as good as factory without any wire splices or solder joints.
