Post Front facias and lift

My 85 has a rear wing and a front lip spoiler on the car from the factory. I am thinking about removing the front facia in favour of a RUF Front Spoiler Kit to allow for a front mount oil cooler. Anyone have any ideas as to how this will affect front end lift?

I am certain the Ruf front spoiler with oil cooler will be just as effective as the Porsche Factory chin spoiler. If Ruf can make the Yellow Bird, a 200 mph+ Turbo, and keep it on the ground, I have every confidence they know what they are doing on the Turbo spoiler.

I think you are making a great choice here. The Ruf unit is polyuretnane, not fiberglass, and should last a long time. They are not cheap...but they are worth it IMHO.

If you want the detail on spoilers and lift, get the book, "The Porsche 911 Story" by P. Frere, a must have for every Porsche Library.

As Bill GRegory has posted below, "If you want to see the specs on 911's with and without various front and rear spoilers and valances, read Paul Frere's "Porsche 911 Story". The Carrera tail and front valance do wonders to reduce lift, with the effects kicking in around 50-60 mph with increasing effectiveness to the top end, around 140-150 mph. Due to it's shape, the turbo tail actually provides a little bit of downwards pressure (as opposed to lift reduction). Steve Masraum gave a good view of the general costs of the various spoiler options. Note too that if you put a rear tail on you need to put the front valance extension on, to provide aerodynamic balance....one of the reason's Porsche on the 964's and 993's went to a retractable spoiler, was to retain the traditional 911 shape (as you mentioned you like it) yet provide the aerodynamic/cooling benefits at speed."

When Bill posts, "Take it to the Bank!" I will remain on my for Bill...and just imagine, he does his moderation for the love of the Marque! Thanks Bill!!!
