I would be surprised if 'budget' and 'Carrera GT' can fit in the same sentence together. Why not get a GT2? Isn't the new one faster than the Carrera GT?

I can tell you right off the bat that it is worthless buying that car. It probably already has a salvaged title. You cannot repair that car without sending it to Stuttgart I think. And since they just had a big mishap with one of their curing ovens I dont think youll get it back anytime soon. The Carrera GT's body, and I am not 100% on this, is made from a FRCC matrix (Fiber Reinforced Ceramic Composite) that has the matrix layered and cured at high temperatures. Usually frames like this have to be sent back to the factory for a complete rebuild. It will cost you top dollar, which is why when cars like this get hit like that, they are just salvaged.

We fixed one,.....

Not cheap but good as new, too.

It needs to be inspected by someone well versed in CF composites to see if its repairable and what it would take to do that.

I posted this on another thread, but a buddy of mine works at a Porsche body shop and they are fixing a CGT. There was some minor front end damage, but because of its location and the fact the the parts are expensive, it is a $75,000.00 repair. Almost the cost of a new Porsche to repair an old one. Good luck!

If I were you I would say forget it. Your still looking at a lot of money to purchase the car and spending a lot to fix it. In the end you will probably get close to MSRP. Why not spend that kind of money on a used Porsche say 993 Turbo, or even 997 Turbo.
