Will wheels from an '86 951 (Fuchs 7x16, 8x16) fit on an '87 Carrera Coupe? The part numbers on the 951 wheels are:
951 362 117 (7")
951 362 115 (8")
For future reference, what are the proper offsets for 7" and 8" x 16 wheels on an '87 Carrera Coupe?
If it matters, I'm interested in these for track tires.
Thanks,
Carl

Correct(or at least factory) 7 is ET 23.3, 8 is ET10.6 and 9 is ET15
the wheels asked about are both ET 23.3
the
-'86 944 wheels will fit
either can be used on the front though the 23.3 8 is a little low for comfort, 25 -31 is preferred for an 8 in front
caveats
the 23.3 8 will want a ~13+ mm spacer in the back of an SC/Carrera flared car to bring the tire out towards the rim more.

Thanks, that helps a lot. It sounds like I ought to skip these and keep looking for a true 930 set of 7s and 8s, which I assume fall in the offset ranges you've listed.

Correct(or at least factory) for any 15-18" wheel used on a 911 w/ SC/Carrera flares is
7 ET 23.3, 8 ET10.6 and 9 ET15 there is some wiggle room on all of those #s deopending on ride height and suspension settings and how much work you are willing to do on the lips and sometimes other suspension pieces.
for track use I would want 8 ET25-31 front and 9 ET 15-20 rear. each car is a little different.
I use 8 ET25 and 9.5 ET19.05rear 235/45 & 275/40on my C3 but it wasn't easy to get it all to work right
next tire set will be 235/40 & 265/35 all in 17

I have the 944 rims on my 911 and they work great and it makes the 944 guys mad when they know you have them. Also, I have a friend with a Riviera Blue 993 as well. Only 29 of those in the world and 12 of them are cabs!!!!

944 8s yes it can be done, it's just that the ET23.3 is a tad low for comfort, fitting big wheels and tires is a game of mm,
you can see how the different wheels sit here
