I started running my last Carrera ('86 Coupe)on the track with a chin spoiler and no tail. After adding a "Weissach" Tail ( as delivered on Weissach edition SC's, very similar to a Carrera tail in surface area and general shape, yet one piece and lighter ), turn 8 at Willow Springs (120 mph sweeper) was a far less intimidating turn, and the car was much easier to control under hard braking at the end of the front straight. I believe it even felt a bit more stable at freeway speed.

Bill's graph certainly covers the tech end of things, no further comment on that other than you need to be at 100+ to really need it. If it is a matter of style/taste, I think it looks a bit awkward on a Targa, looks at home on the Coupe.

An aftermarket tail may undermine the value of a car to the purist, no new mounting holes please!

I have seen the 1994 vintage "S" tail for $495 at BW Motorsports ad in Excellence Mag. (618-622-0524/Ohio), nice unit, lower profile than the turbo unit.

Oops my bad! I digitized the graphs so long ago that I forgot that they weren't from Pano, but from a presentation by Bob Whiteat War Bonnet in May 77, then reprinted in 'Up~Fixen' vol V, pg 309. Lots of other great info in that one!
