THis afternoon someone looking at my 993 asked why was there a horse on the emblem and what were the littel black things around it?? tails?? antlers?? I am embarrased that I didn't know. I do know quite a bit of Porsche history, but what exatly is the horse and those other things?? Why a horse?? Didn't see many last time I was in Germany.

I recall it has to do with the German meaning and translation of Stuttgart. I read somewhere that Stuttgart was a horse breeding town or area for centuries and "Stutt" has a correlation to stud(the horse kind).

I'm going from memory so please don't call me too crazy!

POST EDIT : I wasn't too far off after all!:
