Cool Heater electrics playing up?

I fail to understand the workings of the cabin heater, and wonder if mine is playing up the part. Last winter, my heater would (apparently) work fine. It has no levers, but only the round dial, with coloured numbers (´86 3.2 carrera). As I was saying, last year the heater would make some "droid" sounds when I turned the dial (kind of "weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee" soft noise), and then it would stay there until I turned it of, or I would change the temperature.

However, over the last few days, I´ve noticed that the heater will make the same noise when turned, but it will remain making noises at times, like if it was "self-adjusting" or something similar (kind of "wee-wee-wee-wee).

Hoping you understand what I mean, and hoping you can "translate" my noises, can someone tell me if this "sounds" normal to you? <img src="confused.gif" border="0">

Carlos,
your wheels are the same as mine. My heater control unit is in the workshop at my work.
Your desription of what was happening with the heater on is "normal". Inside the black control box (ontop of handbrake) is the brains of the whole system. In here there is a little electric motor (you will not believe how small) (see pelican web address photo), which drives the heater control lever. This it does via a gearbox, which produces some enormous torque (the lever is connected via cables to the rear heater flaps). All this is controlled by a remote thermostat ( in the roof headliner) which connects to a positional card ( electric circuit board -photo) controls the electric motor to open or shut the heater flaps. The whirrring noise you hear is the little motor opening/partly closing the heater flaps. The article on the Pelican site is perhaps one of the best around, see photos.
