Default starting issue

I have an 83 SC. went out a few days ago and it wouldn't start. nothing at the starter when i turn the key. lights were bright so it wasn't battery (i have it on a trickle charger). i went out today to start checking connections and it started right up. started it ten times with no issues. is there a place i should start other than the obvious (cables/wires). Does the relay commonly go bad? sound like a ground issue? just dont want to miss checking something important and be left sitting somewhere... thanks in advance for the insight and advice...

Do you have an alarm system (aftermarket) or has there ever been one installed ? My buddy's '83 started doing this and we found a bad connection in an aftermarket alarm relay base that led to intermitttent start lockout.
