Hi I'm new to the rennlist and new to Porsche! I managed to acquire a 1977 2.7 911 (with k-jetronic) just before xmas. The car has been parked in a garage for the last 15 years and is a non-starter. I've bee doing the usual things over the past few weeks like sorting the fuel system out, fitting new plugs etc. At the weekend I tried to start it for the first time - it didn't! Fuel is getting through, the CDS unit is whistling but I'm not getting a spark from the coil to distributor. The Haynes manual states that a reading of 0.4 to 0.6 ohm's should be between the earth and supply terminal (from CDS unit) - I'm getting over 2 ohm's! The manual also says that a reading of between 640 and 790 ohm's should come from the supply terminal and HT lead to distributor - I'm getting over 1600! Some sources say the coil is knackered and some say it's okay?
Does anyone have any sensible suggestion or other tests?
Thanks

no hard answers.. but I'd clean the 14 pin connector in left side of engine comp. [to prevent voltage drop].. and the chassis to tranny ground[under car].. and check CD box voltage when starting.. then your distributor points and distributor/points ground..

TO me that sounds like a bad coil as well as something else going on.
Something else I would check would be is what's stuffed in your cooling fins. My 73T had a whole mice's nest on top of the cylinders. If I had tried to start it, I would have burnt up my engine in minutes. Shine a flashlight through the fan and take a look.
