Default 911 SC Wings

Hi
Are the front wings on these early cars really bolt on? I want to remove one to see what corrosion there may be underneath but not if I need to weld etc.

Thanks

Hi ye theya re bolt on. Be very carefull when removing, these wings can easily be misshaped when taken off. Where the wing joins to the body running parralel with the bonnet you will find a sealing compound once all bolts are removed cut this away befor pulling the wing free, you will be supprised how sticky it is and just take care not to buckle the wing. If it feels tight continue till you can lift the wing free. I would recommend new fixings and compound when reassembling.

PS Do you need to remove the wing? Any corrosion could be seen from underside and in the luggage area..

Hi Thanks for the advice. The area I want to see is behind the fuel filler so it is really hard to get at. I would love not to have to remove the wing but I also want to get to the rust before it gets too bad.

Thanks again.

Can you look around up in there by removing the wheel and using a mechanic's or Dental mirror?
