Question? I am looking for a 87-89 carrera and finding that the prices are pretty high (23-26K). I have noticed that the '92-'93 C2s can be had for not much more. I think that most of the C2 problems have been handled by 1992.
All other things equal (cost, mileage, condition), would a C2 be a better way to go in the long run? I am looking for a daily driver and want to keep maintance costs moderate. I also realize that the cars feel and drive much differently.
While this is not the 964 forum, some of you have owned a C2 and any thoughts would be appreciated.

Dave, I have always gone with the addage that if I can afford to get newer/better, then I should. I am in now way shape or form saying that the C2 is better!!
Yes, a 1992 C2 pretty much had all the "issues" worked out, head gaskets, four-piston calipers in the rear and cooler mirrors too!
I think it's a toss-up between the '87-'89 Carrera and the 964, both have the G-50 gearbox and are great 911s to own...but with the 3.6 powerplant and updated looks of a 964 - that's what made my decision to take the 964 route.

Dave: I've owned an '88 coupe and a '93 RSA. I alternated driving both of them for over a year, so I'm very familiar with their different feels. Other things equal, I think you'd be more satisfied (over the long run, as you say) buying the one you enjoy driving more. The C2 is certainly the more modern, more comfortable, and more powerful car. I happen to like the C2's looks a little better too (but then I like the 993's looks even better). The late '80s Carreras are holding their values very well compared to the 964s, thus, as you noted, prices for nice late '80s Carreras overlap those of early 964s. The 964s are between a rock and a hard place; between the "best and last of the traditional 911s" and the "best and last of the water/oil cooled 911s (the 993s). However, that would seem to make the 964s good buys, assuming you enjoy driving them better, of course. Maybe you shouldn't even drive a 993, or you might be saying "for a few thousand more ...." Do that a few times and next thing you know, you'll be looking for a GT3.
