70 911T Trunk stuck
I've just become the proud new owner of a '70 911T. It's been parked under cover for the last 24 years...(yes, that's years!!) but it looks to be in great shape. Pretty much original and has all the parts, plus needs a lot of work. Has some minor rust under the paint, doesn't run...but the brakes still work!
I've got a bit of a problem though. The trunk is stuck shut. It's not latched all the way down, but it's not really released either. The main latch acts like it's out of alignment and is jammed up or something.
I've tried "persuading" the trunk lid a little each way to see if that helped, but stopped short of doing any more damage than just chipping some paint. Still can't get it open.
Anybody know a way to get it open without bending metal?

On roughly 10/5/07 the same question was posted on the Pelican Parts 911 Technical Forum -- "Help, Can't Open Hood!".. There were a number of suggestions offered. See if you can access those responses via a search. I printed and saved the page, so if you can't access it, reply and I can type in the information.

Thanks. I found it and it sounds like he's got the same problem, only in reverse. His is the hood (rear bonnet) and mine's the trunk, but I'm sure they operate the same way.
I've got the same predicament though...not enough room between the front splash and the hood to really see in there to figure out what's stuck. I'm thinking it's the ball end of the plunger stuck in the latch like his pictures show. I just can't get the lid to move far enough to release it either.
I'll try the suggestions and if all else fails, I'll get a little more physical. I'm still trying to determine the extent of any rust on the body, so I've got to get in there eventually. Just hope I don't get too frustrated!!
