I'm currently running 345-35-15 rear tires on original BBS 15" wheels (225-50-15's on front). I'd like to go to 17" or 18" wheels but would like to retain existing tire width (for both traction and appearance). Tiretrac has 345-18-35's available in track tires but they aren't appropriate for my usage of the car. I'd appreciate any tips on how I might accomplish the move up without giving up the wide tires (to the extent that's even possible), or at least stay as close to the width as I can. Suggestions and recommendations on specific wheels, tires and any necessary offsets would be fantastic. Thanks much.
I have a set-up like what you currently have.
Anything you run in either 17's or 18's is going to have a much taller diameter.
That said, 335x35x17's or 335x30x18's fit (although the 315's much easier) and will give you the appearance that you like.
Main trick is offset and don't go too wide of rim either.
Good luck.
