early: It's very unusual that CV boots only lasted that long. When I sold my shop to Marc in '99 we were becoming aware of some really crappy after market ones being sold (sometimes represented as o.e.). I only bought from the dealer at the time, but we never had boots fail before at least 80K miles, most lasted 100K + miles. It sounds like you might have gotten the bad ones, o.e. is the only way to go for parts like that. Marc's in Daytona for the 24, I'll ask him next week if he remembers who the lousy ones were made/sold by...

Peter,
Thanks for looking into this for me. They only had about 15k on them which is what really shocked me. They were not dry the just plan seperated at the base.

Thanks for taking it with the light-hearted humor that was intended.

Pete, I really had to take a double take when Performance Products brought out EMPI. How much EMPI do you have on your '66? Walk into Save-A-Bug and it's wall to wall.

911vet, What brand did you use, and where did you get them?

(I was afraid the girl was a daughter, not a wife, so I kept my mouth shut)

Douglas,
I told my wife that she looked young enough to be my daughter and she loved it. You are her new best friend. Not bad for a woman going on 30 right?

The box and bags of grease had words on them like Gieberfleshnicheineim (ok, that's not quite right, but it was definitely German).

Sorry, I'm no help at all. I bought the boot kit from Pelican. The boxes are gone and I'm not sure what they were. It all looked like quality stuff. It came with Oeticker clamps and the rubber seemed to be a little heavier than what came off the car.

But you can't just look at it and predict wear rate, obviously. All I can say at this point was the fitment was perfect and it had the appearance and feel of a quality product. I'll let you know in 15K miles
