I had the pleasure of meeting Douglas Bray and his wife on the San Diego New Year's run. I really dug that video that he posted (http://youtube.com/watch?v=bwgQ_Y8LalU). My car was the second one in front of him.

Nice! Reminds me of Steve McQueen's daily driver in the movie Lemans. Oh, and I see Hester is just a popular with the ladies.

Funny you should mention the "Le Mans" 911. I just watched the openiing scene again and I have the "Excellence" from December with the feature on that car.

The cars are very similar. The McQueen 911 is chassis code 9110301502 and mine is 9110301184, pretty close. McQueen's has some luxury items that Hester doesn't have like a sunroof, A/C, fender trim, and a muffler skirt.. Hester has some stuff, and more importantly some stuff deleted that McQueen's car didn't, like 911R wheels, a rear wiper, H1 Halogen headlights, no front bumper over-riders, and no radio, antennae, or speakers. They both have tinted glass, foglights, and 200 horsepower.

Guys the story behind this car is unreal...That is to say it is on the edge of being unbelievable. What a fantastic car and what a great new owner for her. The car was a gift! Yes, a gift! Look her up on Pelican. I have a string of great pictures of her and her new owner I will post when I get back to California.

Hey Hester,

I read your story on Pelican, welcome here. I recently acquired a 1972 911, looks like I have a interesting journey in front of me with an early 1972 911 ownership. Hopefully we can swap notes along the way.

Congratulations again you story its an awesome story.

Cheers

Clayton

Hey Clayton,

Cheers right back at you, bro. You know where to find me if you need to bounce any ideas off me. I'm far from a 911 expert but I'm a pretty good problem solver and just about all of the knowledge that exists in the universe about 911s is here on the net. MORE PICTURES!!! Let's see the engine bay and the interior.

Hey Hester,

The car is currently in transit, soon as it arrives I will update with more pictures. It was purchased with the view its running and a little rough around the edges but definitely a great running project, which I am happy to bring back to its natural state. I am no 911 expert either but with this forum and others help I am sure I can work out. Looks like your car is a beauty. The engine bay is quiet ordinary as far as looks like but its recently been rebuilt, now just to pretty up the paint work on the engine parts. I see you round.

Hester benefitted from Dick Barbour's know-how in 1970, gaining several sports-purposes touches in the process... Excellence magazine, August 2008.

Excellence is running a five-page, five picture, story about Hester in its August edition. Its not on the news-stands yet but the subscribers have it. Has anyone seen it?
