Vampire

I have a glue-like smell in the interior of my new to me '86 911. It is coming from the floor pan. There was a cardboard type insulation which was starting to crack and peel off. I removed most of it, but some of the adhesive is still on the floor. Is there a good method to remove the remaining adhesive or odor?
