So I swapped out my old, defective top hood latch on my '78 SC today with a replacement from Pelican. The spring latch was broken on my old one. Now I have an even bigger problem. The hood won't open at all now. It is permanently latched/jammed. I pull the hood release and it doesn't kick open at all. Does anyone have any suggestions about what I should do?

Have an assistant pull the T-handle to its stop (release position) and hold it. Stand at the front of the car and push down firmly on the trunk lid, at its forward lip, with your hands a few inches to each side of center. While pushing, apply pressure, flat-handed, palms down, toward the left and right sides. Sometimes this will release the latch...

Thanks for the links and suggestions. This morning I pulled the T-handle and slid a flat head screwdriver wrapped in a cloth under the front right side of the hood and gently pried up. The hood popped open. Great feeling! Now I just need to adjust the latch correctly.
