My whole family has the disease.

We don't see many Porsche's though, and we consider it a sign that you're going to have a great day..... now that you've seen a Porsche!

We live near a lake and there are eagles that live here too. The native indians have a belief that if you see a bald headed eagle flying in the sky, it will bring you good luck.

We adapted our belief system from theirs.

I can't help but add my story to this...

When my one-and-a-half year old nephew sees a Porsche he shouts: 'Daddy Car!'

And when he sees a BMW drive by: 'Mommy Car!'

I thought that is pretty impressive considering his current vocabulary is no more than ten words.

Good stuff guys! My X girlfriend was once astounded when I said Wow sweet POrsche as I looked into a health club parking lot...She looked & said where?
Well it was so nice I had to pull in & check her out driving by in the parking lot...It was about 3 deep with cars all along side of it...My Girlfriend said, how did you even see it? I just said you have to have an "eye" for them...She did the eye roll bit too...Did I say she was my X girlfriend...ha ha...

My wife is into Porsches almost as much as I am, but she is not quite as good at spotting them. She mistook a Saab Sonnett for a 911 the other day!!! I have to give her some slack though, it was in an arial photo of about a hundred other cars (Saabs) on the wall of my Saab mechanic.

I spotted a 74/75 Carrera on the Ventura fwy today in the rain. I wasn't in my SC but I was right behind him as we both got off at Laurel Cyn. It was kind of a burnt orange in color and looked like a driver.
That was a treat you don't see on the road every day especially in the rain.
Cheers

I fell in love with P-cars when I was 10. Ever since, I wanted a 944 Turbo.

Anyways, I grew up here in Vancouver, and it used to be that spotting a 944 or 911 was a special treat. I remember in fact, only 10 years ago it was indeed special to see a newer model 911 on the road, especially a Turbo. When I went to Kelowna for college, it really hit home. I was used to seeing 5 to 10 different p-cars per day in Vancouver. In Kelowna I was lucky to see 1 a day. I was glad to move home!

But recently, there is a MASSIVE influx of Porsches in Vancouver, especially 996's! Anyways, It's gotten to the point where I no longer point of Boxsters or 996's (unless it's a turbo or GT2) Only pre-996's get mentions - too many waterpumping 911s around here!

My g/f would always roll her eyes at first, but she too joined the p-spotting club. She still doesn't have the 914s down tho.

My fiancee has started trying pretty hard to play this game but she's not quite up to speed yet.

Friday evening she says:
"Saw a red 944 on the way home, I think it was a Turbo.".
"How do you know it was a Turbo?"
"What's the difference?", she asks
"Turbo has a smoother nose and a rear undertray spoiler", I reply.
"Oh, well it had an older couple in it and one of those awful license plate reflector things that you hate..."
"That doesn't mean anything"
"Well, when it ripped passed the bus, it made a waste-gatey noise when the guy shifted... you know, whoosh!"
"Umm-kay..."

At least she tries... most girls wouldn't have noticed the car at all!

Have to update all with a conversation I just had on the phone with my finacee:

Mid-sentence she says, "Oh, look, there's a Porsche just like yours!" She continues to discribe all the features of the Carrera.

So I respond, "What does it say on the back?"

She says, "I don't know, I already passed it."

I ask, "Well, can you slow down so you can read it to me?"

..to which she replies, "Oh no, I'm going much faster than that car."

And she doesn't think she'd enjoy DE.

...and we are all allowed to say "Cayenne" the first 3 times we see one, but after that, it is just another SUV.

There was a time when seeing another Porsche on the road was exciting because it was a somewhat rare thing. Now, if you want to flash your lights everytime you see one, you might as well just keep your had on the switch! I counted (actually lost count) 3 996's, and 2 boxters on a trip to the store the other day, less than a mile from my house. In East Tennessee too! who'd a thunk it...
