Post Calming Effect

Alright,
My friends and family think I'm nuts because I like to just go out and get in my truck (no porsche currently) and drive. I enjoy listening to the engine, and to music with the window down. Does anybody else do this???

My favorite time is during the night, go out about 2-3 in the morning and cruise, just get out onto open roads and cruise, enjoying the fresh air and no cars on the road to **** you off. As people seem to be getting dumber (Amaf... from 924-944 forum) as technology advances.

I find this a time to clear my mind of eveything but wanting a porsche!!! Can't seem to shake that thought!!

I'll think you'll find that a lot of people on these boards do just what you do.

It is quite relaxing to find a favorite stretch of road and just concentrate on the sounds and feel of the car (truck, etc). The flat 6 of a 911 is especially appealing!

I'll second that, but up the ante with "top down".

LOL, perhaps this is why none of my personal vehicles have working radios. I love the flat six late at night on a back country road, but I also miss late night cruises in what is now a track only drag car the rumble from a 410" stroker small block and a 4 gear was just too sexy! A big cam meant criusing RPMs had to be above 3000, My new 3.0 in the P-car has replaced most of this feeling especially when accelerating out of a hard corner through my custom dual exhaust.

My wife always tells my friends that her favorite way for us to cruise in the Cab is with her top down.

Her words, not mine. God bless Southern California girls.

Nothing out of the ordinary there. I used to do it in college when I was writing a paper or studying I'd go for a long drive just to reset my head.

I'll definitely back this one up. Driving has always been one of the most enjoyable things I do. I'm happy to knock off a drive, whether from NYC to boston, or a 4 hour drive up to my school. People think I'm crazy as well to actually want to drive. I think it's the whole commuting culture that hates spending time in their cars. Fortunately, I take the subway to work, and when I drive, it's: 1. for fun. 2. in a Porsche.

Maybe that's why I've racked up 13,000 miles in the last 10 months.
