I'm in the process of diagnosing why my 3.0 won't start and have narrowed the field to a bad fuel pump. I'm dutifully following Wayne's 101 Project Book which recommends disconnecting the battery at the negative terminal before doing the work. When I took the cable off the terminal, I noticed a few sparks. I'm a gear head in training, so apologies if this is basic, but is this kind of arching normal?
many thanks

Slider, tiny sparks are normal, as your clock, stereo, and alarm all draw minimal current w/ the ignition off. Was a door open? Ignition off? Could be other current draw. Hope this helps.

Phanatic -
yep, door was open and clock/stereo are working just fine (sometimes it seems they're about the only things working....touch wood...)
Tiny sparks are almost overstating...more like audible clicks with a hint of ozone.
Thanks for allaying my concerns. Hope the pump change goes smoothly.
