Default 1983 911SC cabriolet shifter adjustment

First 911 ever. Car drives great, except for a vague shifter. I read the Pelican Parts article and that IS helpful, but I am looking for some photos.

How do I get to the coupler between the rear seats? Is that done from below or in the interior?

Has anyone photo-documented their shifter adjustment?

Thanks,

Aaron

There is a cover in the center of the car just in front of the rear seats. There are 4 phillips head screws securing it to the floor. Remove these and you will be looking at the shifter coupler. If there is any slop in it, it will need new bushings. It will be very evident if they are broken and require replacement.

When you had the PPI done did the technician advise you regarding the shifter? Perhaps it's normal, and you're more used to the way that cars shift that have the transmission directly below the shift lever? It sometimes takes time to adapt to the way the type-915 transmission (which is used in your car) shifts, you would be well served to have a Porsche professional evaluate the shifting before you start taking things apart.
