Default Valve Adjustmen Question

On my 83 SC if I jack one side at the time up do I still have to drain the oil from the engine to adjust the valves one side at the time. The reason for this is that I just bought the car and the oil has less than a thousand miles and I hate to throw it away.

Nope, I never did. You will lose a little so have some rags handy.

Remember that the engine will have to be completely cold when you do the adjustment... So most of the oil will run out of the tank and down into the case. So expect to lose some oil out of this area but you can do it. ...and since you'll be skipping a cylinder with each adjustment, make sure when you rotate the engine you've found the proper location.

You'll lose maybe a cup of oil by tilting the car.
A big shallow pan or a small pile of rags will do it.
Be sure to recheck the oil level after adjusting.
Car stands and jack under car for safety.

I just did one side last night with a full load of oil. A few drips was all I had.
