Default The Frankenmuffler Chronicles: volume II - pics and vids!

As some may remember, this past summer, I started a little muffler project. I had recently purchased a stock Bischoff muffler for next to nothing, adn decided to see if we could: modify it to a decent muffler that was about 9lbs, adn do it for less than $50 total including muffler (which was $25, but it came with free rat poison and dog food!).

I cut it up and sectioned out about 12 inches from the pass side. Then my friend James was nice enough to take over the welding, as I am not that experienced with thin stainless. Here is where the story picked up today...

OK, big THANK YOU to my buddy James (he has a very nice 928S4). After hearing about the welding job, I am glad I passed it up to someone better at stainless. Thanks again James!

Both James and I are still deciding if we like the sound or not. I will post video in a few minutes after this one.

Another thank you to the guy here that recommended the baffles and sent me his diagram of what worked for his experiment.

Overall, the sound is defintely louder and more rumbly at idle, at it screams at high revs, but while driving along at interstate speed, I can barely notice the muffler note over the sound of the wind (remember mine is sans roof).

Here are the pics. Vids to fllow in next post...
