Default Sportmatic to Manualmatic

Howdy,

Considering a sportmatic 911 (81 SC) but am concerned that in the long run I may change my mind. This car appears perfect in every other way, condition, choice of colour, etc... Just not sure about the lack of clutch long term as I said before.

So to the question - how difficult and costly is a manual swap if I were to change my mind 12months later?

Too expensive - even in Australia there must be lots of SC's around. 1981?? thought they stopped the Sporto in '79?

Hmmm...thats curious. Apparently the car is 100% original. Might have to check that out - thanks.

Although I've never seen one, and I don't know of any that are in the U.S., there is a designation in the Porsche Spec book to identify an RoW Sporto (925/16). What's interesting is that this designation appears for 1980 models, but not '81s. If you can, post the car's VIN, let's make sure that it's an '81, and how early in the production run was it built.

Thanks. I'll call the owner up tomorrow and check the VIN.

Yeah that is where I am at now. I'd rather an older 911 (pre-SC) so that helped make up my mind.
