A repair shop damaged the four Fuch rims on my 1986 911 recently while replacing the A/C compressor, as well as a chip of paint near the engine compartment. They are gouged in some places real bad. Is there a way to buff this out, or a job for a professional?
By the way if ever you are in Lafayette, Louisiana and need repairs for your Porsche, BMW or other import avoid Mike's Import Auto Repairs.

Edward,
Sorry to hear of your problem. I would contact Wheel Enhancement in CA (310-836-8908 or website www.wheelenhancement.com). The problem with buffing it out yourself is that Fuchs have an anodized finish. If you were going to buff the entire wheel, people have done that and it works. But for spot repair, you may want to leave it to the pro's. You might give Wheel Enhancement a call and see what they'd charge. (btw, no affiliation, etc)
As a related aside, I've got to wonder how on earth did they manage to ding all 4 wheels while replacing the a/c compressor?

These are not dings, they are gouges that run approx a foot or so in length on the inner part of the rim. I presume they picked it up on a lift to work on hoses under the car for A/C. Some of these lifts have a safety hook that hooks on to the rim for safety purposes. I assume they forgot to remove it after the work was complete and drove the car thus the gouges that run that long. These rim were brand ner looking. This car was flawless before this.

The shop should have insurance to cover damage to customer'cars. Have you talked to the shop about their insurance covering the damage thay caused? That doesn't improve you short term position but it gets you whole again without money from your pocket. Then you turn it over to the pro's to fix and don't sweat it.
