911 speedometer not working first few miles
I need some help. I have an 87' Carrera and the speedometer does not work for the first 5 - 10 miles every day. Everything is dead, and then suddenly for no reason it comes alive. I am sure its related to power supply but it doesnt seem to be a bump or jarring that makes it come on. I can thump it all I like with no luck, it will come on when it wants to.
Has anyone had similar issues and have any ideas where to look for bad connections etc?

My speedo died on the way home from buying back in '04. It would come & go, even with the previous owner.
I bought the new speedo sensor as that was the likely cause.
After driving the car on a regular basis, the speedo has worked pretty flawlessly. I would imagine this is a case of oxidation / contact crud at the sender end on the trans. I will keep the sender on the shelf for when she really does need it, but that's what happened on my end.
Good luck!

Somehow I dont think its the sensor, because everythng stops, even the odometer which means the motor is not turning for that. Im sure its power just dont know where it could be loose or coroded, also strange that it takes a few miles and then starts to work

Call the guys at No. Hollywood Speedo - (818) 761-5136. I seem to remember that symptom, and after running a few tests it turned out to be the Speedo.
